Ossification disorder of growth cartilage, leading to necrosis of the head of a metatarsal. It most often concerns the 2nd toe (3rd and 4th then, sometimes bilateral).
It manifests itself in pains in walking, sometimes with foreign body sensation. Pain can refer to other toes due to lack of support
The treatment is the rest, or even medication with painkillers, and the prescription of soles.
At an early stage, it is possible to propose an exegesis of the necrotized cartilage. In case of aggravation there is the possibility of setting up a metatarso-phalangial prosthesis.
At the level of calcaneum (bone of the heel), we are talking about Sever’s disease.
