A “loco-regional” anaesthetic technique consisting of numbing the sensitive nerve of the leg as close as possible to the operated foot.
Two levels are possible: the “popliteal block” by passing behind the knee, or the “pedal block” by passing to the inner edge of the ankle.
They have the extra big advantage of controlling the pain ( by reducing it to the maximum) after the operation for 24 or 48 hours, and therefore avoid morphine if possible
